He's a used car salesman, this is to be expected.
It is more interesting that he is calling out the Cardinals. The one team that has said the want to sign him and will try to sign him.
I believe Boras is concerned about the market for his star client.

I realize it's just speculation. It would be cool if it happened that way, though.

The Cardinals organization doesn't owe anything to the fans. Even if what he is saying about their lack of spending is true. This ownership always fields a competitive team. Nobody is forcing us to be fans. It is a business, and they aren't in it for the love of the game. They are in it to make the most money possible, just like Boras is.

Concerning your last statement - it's all speculation. I believe it though (Angels not wanting to deal for Holliday because of Boras).
I don't believe that if Holliday was interested in the Angels, they wouldn't be a player in all this. I bet they sign a Boras client at some point in the future.
I can't imagine why Holliday wouldn't be interested in the Angels, or the other way around. If nothing else, you would think Boras would imply that the Angels are interested, to drive his price up. But the Angels have specifically said that they're not a player for him. And I'll bet they don't land another Boras client anytime soon. We'll see, I guess.
Regardless, insulting people is no way to do business. Boras is a jerk. This whole thing just reinforces that.
He'd need $28 million a year in LA to equal $18 million in STL.
What about New York?
$36.9 million a year.
The Cards signing him is in the bag.

Those COLA figures are fun, and there is a legit point to be made, but they are also misleading. When you can easily buy a $3 to $5 million dollar house -- paying cash -- in any of the cities in question, a lot of the COLA will be mitigated. You may get more house for your $3 to $5 million, but once the check clears, those double and triple figures are done away with for the next 30 years. Yes, the taxes and other expenses of daily living will still be a factor, it really is more expensive to buy groceries or go to the movies or fill up the tank in some cities verses others -- but nowhere near the aggregate figures including housing -- those really only affect the folks who can't buy whatever home they want paying cash.

Giants general manager Brian Sabean said the Giants won't be in on free agent outfielders Matt Holliday and Jason Bay, FOXSports.com reports.
"They're beyond our limits," Sabean said. "We don't have the wherewithal to pay them the dollars they want." That likely takes at least one team out of the running for two of the offseason's most-coveted bats, but the Red Sox, Mets, Cardinals, Mariners and Yankees are expected to bid on corner outfielders before the winter is done.
