Re: Getting into shape
The best way to cure a hangover is to exercise. No batter how bad you hurt, running a couple miles in the morning will get rid of it. You won't set any PRs, but you'll feel better. At least in my experience. Obviously, you'll need to make sure to hydrate before doing so because being dehydrated sucks. And, you'll probably need to do it with gatorade to make sure there is enough sugar floating about. But...yeah, I've gotten to the point that I won't drink unless I know we're going to run in the morning.
Congrats, though, Michael. Sounds like you're healthier and happier without drinking which is really all that matters.

Re: Getting into shape
I'm not saying I'll never drink again, but it's just not something I seek out anymore. I can see myself having a few drinks if I'm at a work function or I'm with my buddies.
Anyway, I'm loving my decision.

I interpreted
as you won't just have a drink while you're watching the game or when you come home from work but that you'll go on a real bender when it's called for.I quit casual drinking

Re: Getting into shape
a dream of mine is to have a brewery sponsor me as a trail runner. but since I'm old and not good enough, it would end up being something [expletive] like Kraftig.

Re: Getting into shape
The longest (and slowest) run I have done in months was also the day I was dealing with the biggest hangover in years. Last series of the year I got absolutely hammered Friday night, went out Saturday for a long run, and was good until 3am the next night.AWvsCBsteeeerike3 wrote:The best way to cure a hangover is to exercise. Pretty much, but my "casual drinking" could get me pretty drunk.lukethedrifter wrote:I interpretedas you won't just have a drink while you're watching the game or when you come home from work but that you'll go on a real bender when it's called for.I quit casual drinking

I totally disagree about running with a terrible hangover. Maybe sprints but no way am I going to stick out a 4 mile run when I feel like dog [expletive].

Re: Getting into shape
The other night at the gym:
Walking the elevated track I saw one of the familiar trainers there (an older black gentleman) working with with a pony-tailed Dwight Schrute clone... Training on medieval-looking swords. The trainer is well-respected -and I have no idea how this odd relationship came to pass.
Anyway, it looked like the trainer was trying to get sword guy to do some of the workout without the sword - some machines, focusing on core work, footwork etc. But Dwight took over, and kept getting the sword and talking about it, and started doing demos for the trainer - who wisely backed off about 30 feet for the demos. After a while, the sword guy was in his own world making his sword moves -and the trainer would just chirp a few words of encouragement from an overtly safe distance.

I have no idea what you are talking about freed. Swords? We have this like S&M strap machine thing that it's fun to watch the ladies get in, but no swords. Kettleball [expletive] is what I don't like. One day one someone is going to let one of them mother [expletive] fly and it's going to kill somebody.

Re: Getting into shape
I have seen a lot of things in the gym. Swords are not one of those things.
