Baseball America's quick analysis is up:

St. Louis' offense already ranked sixth in the NL in runs, so considering that Holliday replaces a pair of unproductive outfielders in Rick Ankiel and Chris Duncan, the Cardinals figure to benefit significantly on the offensive side. A Scott Boras client in his walk year, Holliday will certainly qualify for Type A free agent compensation when he tests those waters this winter.

The real question is this.

Do you think the front office wants to re-sign Holliday? Or, do you hope he crushes the ball, leads the Cards deep into October, and then signs a huge deal somewhere else, stockpiling the picks.

We are all talking that the picks are consolation. But maybe the Cards FO isn't looking at it that way. They want him to produce, which will drive him next contract high. I'm not confident they'll try to resign him. Arbitration is just another year, which you can deal with.

has derosa indicated that he is interested in re-signing? nsbbians are confident he'll return to wrigleyville.

He loved playing in Chicago, but I think that is partly wishful thinking.

Id like to see where its been said on NSBB that we are confident he will return to the Cubs. Very little has been said to that effect.

What has been said on NSBB is that DeRosa loved playing with the Cubs, and he must hate going to the Cardinals.

What they don't realize is he isn't a fan. He's a player. And apparently, St. Louis is a great place in the eyes of many players.

You have to realize who says some of that over there. There are a few over the top posters and what they say should be taken with a grain of salt. Every board has them

Yeah I hear ya. I agree that every board has them. It will be interesting to see if the Cards can resign one or both.

BTW - I'm still reading there although I just figured out two days ago (I was trying to post something in the Haren thread) that I've been banned.
