Gammons seems to think he could be a pen option this season.

43. Cardinals Griffin Roberts, RHP, Wake Forest Speaking of Wake Forest; mid-90s with a nasty slider, great Cardinals pick, posted 3.82 ERA in 97 innings, 130/38 K/BB; strikeout rate is not lying about the quality of his stuff.

I'm seriously pumped about the night for the Cardinals. They sure didn't take it easy.

Gorman is a guy I just loved coming into the year. He has swing-and-miss to his game, and the biggest issue isn't as correctable as some will write (breaking pitch recognition isn't something you just learn easily), but he has an absolutely beautiful swing and frame. He has an All-Star upside and a bat that can play anywhere. His arm is excellent, not sure the 50 comment, either.

Griffin Roberts is great. He could pitch in the major leagues right this minute. He also had the third best FIP in the ACC for starters (Connor Thomas, Evan McKendry). He's big, has two plus pitches, has proven he can start in an excellent league, and has performed. He got hit some, but he also had a .332 BABIP so he wasn't extremely fortunate for a guy who is as hard to hit as he is.

Luken Baker is an interesting pick. He's absolutely got the best power to all-fields in the draft from the right side. He has an outstanding approach and will be an OBP monster. He also has some swing-and-miss to his game, adds zero value in anything other than his arm, and is a RH hitting 1B-only guy in the NL. I wouldn't have taken him there and would've gotten an athlete to groom, but it's obvious the Cardinals wanted power and production and they got it in all three picks.

Gorman will cost money to sign (he will sign).
