Listening to a podcast on the way to work today thinking this exact same thing.
Life is challenging enough. You don't need the culture you consume to challenge you. It's ok to be washed and just like things that are easy for you to like. I could listen to lil peep or lil uzi vert but I'd much rather listen to something immediately comforting. That [expletive] might be objectively good and I'll never call what the kids like bad, because they get to decide what's good, but i'll take a hard pass on trying to act like I'm 19 again.

One that hit home for me was the election of Barack Obama. The first time in my life I was older than the POTUS.

A friend and her daughter of my GF is staying with us tonight as they pass through on their way home from the Ozarks. The friend is my age, the daughter is in college. Knowing I could have a kid in college makes me feel old.

I actually began teaching some of my son's grade-school and high-school classmates a couple of years ago.
Some of the young students I taught in the 1990's are in their mid-forties, and now have kids in college.

I have a cold. I sneezed earlier today and think I pulled an abdominal muscle.

Good lord, millennial; you're in the front row, six goddam feet from Kendrick Lamar--and you're going to watch him through you're goddam cell phone?!!? Like you were on your couch watching youtube? When are you going to live this incredible moment, if not right now? That profound energy of connecting with a performer--I just doubt it's possible through an iPhone, especially all models 7 and below.
As soon as I'm selling out arenas (shouldn't be long), I'm going to bring the show to a screeching halt and make a show out of kicking that millennial out and bringing a millennial from the 300s down. ...and then probably having to repeat the process until the venue tells me it's getting too expensive to turn the lights on and off all night.

You have an abdominal muscle? I am so old, I don't even have them any more!
