Thanks for all the kind words, and I’m also glad to be able to share a little bit of her great spirit.

It is very weird in the house today. Back when we’d have to board her before we flew somewhere, we’d have the feeling we dubbed “lack of hound,” where things just felt strangely empty. It is empty now yet with all her beds and things still around that I can’t face dealing with yet. My wife broke down cleaning up the grime she left on the wall in a corner where she used to like to wedge herself.

I feel very sad, but mostly in a “want to continue to feel the love I have for her” kind of way. It’s too soon, not a good time for us, and I’ll have to wait to be sure, but I think I would like to get another dog at some point even though it means going through something like this again.
