It's awesome that Hollinger wrote about how great Kevin Love has been, and how he deserves more than 28mpg, and how incredibly efficient his rebounding has been - and then after I read this nice article, he gets 42 minutes and only manages the first 30/30 since 1982.

Anyone remember when he was drafted? Because I definitely recall a lot of "doesn't have the right body" "wiill be a decent backup big" and general not-keen-on-Love stuff. And this year, every solid commetator, blogger, and message board'er I hear is gushing about the guy.

Oh ps, last night was a great night for me. Bulls win a nice blowout, great games all around. And I get to see Shaq totally floor Lebron. I don't really like the Celtics, but damned if I wasn't fired up for them. Did you see Bosh shrink away for that monster Rondo dunk? Doesn't he read the overwhelming amount of press saying he's soft? Does this not piss him off / worry him?

A very entertaining start to the season. I've seen both Celtic/Heat games, and I have to say that as much as I hate the Celtics I love them. Grittiest team evar? I've got tix to the Celtics/Bulls game in Jan., and I'm looking forward to that.

Bulls? I like them. Alot actually. Very enjoyable team to watch. They work hard, and D Rose is coming into his own. 23pts per game, nearly 10 assists. I wonder how much of this is natural growth, and I wonder how much of it is Thibideau kind of cutting him loose a little bit? Tonight their bench looks great ... Asik, Brewer, Korver.

edit ... and now that we are in full swing, I just have to say that I love the NBA. I don't give a hoot about football, with the NBA in full swing I'm set until baseball.

Does someone keep a stat for shots per touch? I would love to see that figure for Zach Randolph. The announcers tonight said he was blocked 30 more times than any other player last year. I don't miss that guy at all.

I'm pretty flaccid on my Blazers. They need a shot in the arm. Oden could be it, but not a lot of reason to hope there.

Also, after a long baseball season, basketball is so refreshing. It moves so fast.

I don't know, but basketball-reference.com is my go to site for b-ball. Check there.

And he's down again. I really do feel bad for him on a personal level, I hope he can keep it together. Glad he's not in Philly or NY, we'll be good to him. He is absolutely crushed. But it's not bad that this is happening now. The team can move on now rather then waiting for this to happen later. The Oden/Aldridge/Roy plan was a good one, but if this team doesn't scrap that plan at this point and plan for a team that doesn't need Oden (while still keeping him around if they want), I'll be very disappointed.

We have some pieces to move. Because Oden won't touch the floor we may get his cap space in play for this year too, but I'm not sure because he was on the 15 to start the year. Anyway, interesting days ahead. Or I hope so anyway.

So the other news for my basketball team today is that Brandon Roy is bone-on-bone in both knees. Apparently the team knew this when they signed him to his extension. I knew they were bad, but I didn't know they were that bad. It's likely (and remember our luck (and stupidity) out here) his best days are behind him already.

Potential dominate final piece gone. Superstar likely no longer a superstar.

Dark days in Rip City.

Dude, Sai, I feel sorry for you. The Blazers are depressing. You guys deserve better than the poor man's Sam Bowie and Grant Hill Jr. I don't even feel like they did anything wrong. Oden over Durant certainly had it's detractors, but for the most part everyone thought that was a perfectly sound decision. This was supposed to be a potential dynasty.
