Newly addicted to Legrands. I wolfed down the Legend Club, but then the sauce that was soaked in the bread kicked in, and I was out of beverage. aay.
I preferred the Hitman over the Legend. Warner Club looks pretty damn good. Frankly I could spend a whole day studying Legrands sandwich menu.
For those preferring sandwiches that don't mix up the meats as much, but piled high with asskickin goodness - try Carl's Deli (Clayton Rd across from St. Mary's Hospital). Pastrami Reuben on kaiser roll with spicy mustard-..zing! negative is their sandwiches cost a few more bucks than Legrands, and they don't sell beer. Better bread/bun choices Not sure if its fficially a kosher deli, but along those lines.

LeGrands is amazing. JL21 and I frequent that place often.

What - you guys don't do Garavellis?
At Legrands, love that high countertop - so all you see is the sandwich guys behind it, rummaging around and piling up stuff like busy elves. After just enough time to make a beverage selection and scan the beer aisle - viola! they produce a neatly wrapped sandwich.

The old Garavellis on Lindell-CWE was a hoot. Lots of guys named Morty and Leo. Just-carved roast beef sandwich was safe. My boss who was in his 60s liked to go there because it made him feel young- he'd have been their youngest customer by 20 years, if not for me.
I liked to imagine those gentlemen in their hayday - like "Mad Men" -top coats, hats, smoking like fiends, 3 martini lunches, bangin cocktail waitresses, then heading to Gaslight district for happy hour etc.
BTW -Garavellis -the best lime jello with pineapple in town.
This may have been mentioned (I'm not reading 7 pages) but LeGrand's is so much more than a place to get a great sandwich. They are an old time butcher shop with excellent cuts of meat. They also sell groceries and do catering.
And next time you're in there for your sandwich say hi to my brother who probably made it!

The dudes who own the place are great. I agree, Molly- everything about LeGrand's is great. The service, the butcher items, the sandwiches, the side items they sell, the fact that they're so committed to the local neighborhood...
