I was watching while making dinner and it just seemed like they were never really in it despite the score being as close as it was.
Amazing that this was supposed to be a rebuilding year of sorts and they're competing to get out of this division and to the WCF. I think everyone would have taken that back in February, no?

True. If they do wind up losing this series, I won't be as disappointed as I was that we lost to SJ last year. That was soul crushing.

So does anyone miss Shattenkirk at this point? I think he could have certainly helped generate more offense, but on the other hand we won the Wild series based on our defense--I'm not certain we would have won that series with him. He's a -6 so far with the Caps this postseason.

Nope.
At the same time, it still feels like we could've/should've got more for him.

Probably. Though every contender might have recognized the same flaws, and made offers accordingly.

It just seems bad that Arizona got more for Martin Hanzal and Ryan White than we will get for the best D-man on the market (flawed as he might be). I'm sure other teams did adjust their offer, but it looks likely all we're going to get is Sanford and the 27th pick (although if Crosby's out for more than one game, I suppose that could tip the series).

His refusal to sign an extension with certain teams didn't help us out in the trade

It helps that the Blues had Parayko all ready to step up to top 4 minutes, and tons of depth at D.

Nope. Wish we would've moved him a couple drafts ago.
