I totally get that, and there's that part of me, the part of me you guys see a lot of on this board, where my brain goes "That person is wrong! You must ramble on about it!" But then it's kind of like when a friend is dating someone you can't stand, and if you say anything about not liking your friend's significant other, you risk losing a friend. I'm reluctant in life to do that, even moreso when it could damage a good friendship my wife has. So, I'll probably say nothing, then in 10 months or so when we host the thing again I'll be sure to be around for it. Then I'll probably say something passive-aggressive and ruin the party.cardinalkarp wrote:Hell, if anything you'll be doing your wife's best friend a favor letting her know she's dating a douchebag that has no problem treating her friends like [expletive].

If I were you, and the missus won't uninvite him (or you don't want to ask her to), the next time he's coming over, I'd box up all my booze -- even the cheap stuff -- and store it at a friend's house. Leave a note in the booze cabinet that says "Dear Buzz. [expletive] you."

Next time you throw the party you need to be like man, "I wish I had some of that WL Weller Special Reserve, or better yet some Old Weller 107 from the early 90s; I had some in here that I was saving for a very special occasion but someone felt the need to crack both bottles open and drink it".themiddle54 wrote:I totally get that, and there's that part of me, the part of me you guys see a lot of on this board, where my brain goes "That person is wrong! I have a few more of the 107. Scored 22 of them using the estate sale method a couple years back. Maybe I'll break one out and drink it and wait for the ask. "Nah, Buzz. You've already had more than your share."

I would pour it on the floor around him and say, "the floor is more deserving of this than you"themiddle54 wrote:I have a few more of the 107. I'm with you up to the part where I set my floor on fire.
Seriously, if any of y'all want to get some good stuff, the estate sale thing works. You can get for under $200 a ton of booze. Takes hours of going through stuff on the web, but worth it.

Like this one:

There's a pic of a Dickel 12 bottle shaped like a golf club. That's pretty sweet. There has to be more in that house, unless it's that rare thing where the owner got that as a gift, never opened it because he wasn't a drinker but liked the kitsch.
This one:

has a brass three-line beer tapper and a bunch of old-school tap handles.
This one:
https://www.estatesales.net/IL/Mount-Pr ... 56/1349373
Has a big wall unit with crystal decanters and a cabinet with a bunch of martini glasses.
All these are drinkers' homes and likely to have at least a little booze in them.

Re: Rant/Rave: Bourbon
Is the rule that says they can't sell it a state rule or a federal rule?
