The Blues signed Stevens from Washington to an offer sheet as an RFA. The Caps declined to match and got five first round picks as a result.
Next season they signed Shanny as an RFA, but as they didn't have first round picks, other compensation had to be worked out. Devils wanted Stevens, Blues offered other players. Ended up going to an arbitrator who sided with the Devils.

wowsers....... That's uh unbelievable. How is hockey still a thing after something like that. No wonder their [expletive] playoffs are on [expletive] CNBC and what not.
May as well root for Washington to beat Pittsburgh now. That'll lock up getting a 2nd rounder from the Caps in 2018. I could understand wanting to see Toronto win and getting the 23rd pick this year (and no 2nd), but not now since it'll be pick 27.

I'm sure McKernan is right, but damn I hate the two consecutive off days. And to possibly have them three times? Yeesh.
The Oilers clinched their series in six games the exact same day the Blues clinched theirs in five. That's absurd.
Looks like it is Wed/Fri/Sun/Tues/Fri/Sun/Tues so just the one 2 day off stint from Tuesday to Friday between games 4 and 5. This is a much better schedule and the Blues have the first of the 4 potential game 7's.
Also only one [expletive] 8:30pm weekday start in the first four games too!

Not only that, the Stevens saga didn't even end there........a few years later, the Blues tried to reacquire Stevens with an offer sheet, but the NHL felt they tampered, & fined them yet another first-rounder plus $$$$$$: https://www.reddit.com/r/hockey/comment ... _st_louis/
I want the Blues to win in 5. That would put the clinching game on my birthday. Of course if that happens, I probably won't even be coherent by the time the game comes around. Cinco de Mayo is a great birthday to have but I have to be careful with who I hang out with. Some friends are not good influences and will just keep buying me shot after shot until I have no clue what is going on.
