NFL offseason (abbreviated) thread

I don't have high expectations for this season. I think our path will follow the Falcons. They surprised and won when Ryan was a rookie -- 11-5. Then got a hard schedule -- 9-7. Then made the final step up to 13-3 and a perennial contender with an easier schedule. 8-8 or 9-7 this year is about what I expect. Some will see that as a step back, but by my count we have one easy game -- at home against the Bills. Our non-division games include the Pats, Steelers, Dolphins, Packers, Jets, Colts, and Bears.

Yes it would. I think 6-10 is more realistic than that though.

I understand that. The premise is more what I'm talking about...you know...not being a greedy money hungry sumbitch. Like 23 million a year is that much worse than 25 million a year.

I understand that. The premise is more what I'm talking about...you know...not being a greedy money hungry sumbitch. Like 23 million a year is that much worse than 25 million a year.

And I find your premise ridiculous. Owners have a whole lot more money than players. A 130 million dollar payroll isn't much worse than a 128 million.

It's pretty amusing that Manning has been hailed for his selflessness in signing a deal that only matches the largest contract ever given instead of insisting that he sign for more. I don't think anyone seriously thinks he left more than a couple of million on the table, and the fact that he's been able to spin it this way probably makes that much back in public goodwill.

I think it's more that they got the deal done in a few days so the Colts can go try and make something happen in FA as opposed to stringing em along and handcuffing their options in the off-season.

I'm not hearing much in Indy about the 'hometown discount' angle. People are just happy he re-signed.
