Blues Off-season and 2024-25 Season

I fell asleep right about when the 3rd was starting...tough result.

Welp, put this game behind us, we're still in this series. Hellebuyck still is shaky in net. Remember, we had a few clunkers during the 2019 playoffs.

Not sure I would even classify this one as a clunker. 1st period was a bit of a lost cause with the questionable calls. 2nd period mostly belonged to the Jets, though Helle allowed that soft goal and the Blues got a tough break with the deflection off Parayko. Blues controlled play for the most part in the 3rd and had a few good scoring opportunities, which was a big improvement over the 3rd period in games 1 and 2 when the Jets were just suffocating them in the Blues' and neutral zones.

I think there were a lot of positives you can take from this game despite the loss. Tough to envision the Jets winning in St. Louis on Friday, but maybe that's just recency bias with the dominant Blues wins in games 3 and 4 plus the long home winning streak. I'll take my chances in game 7 on the road. If the Blues don't end up pulling this off, it was a good run against a top team and the Blues should only get better in the next couple years.

I only watched the recap this morning, so I expect I’m missing a lot, but my gut feeling after watching it was in line with what Popeye said. It appeared that the blues had some chances, the jets played hard. They didn’t show any of the penalties in the recap so I can’t comment on that, but it seemed like two good teams, and the jets did a good job at home putting pucks on net and got some deflection goals. (Which is what the blues did in their wins)

Blues need to win Friday. That’s all they need to think about right now.

And again echoing popeye, I’m pleased however this turns out. We played the presidents trophy winning team very hard with a rookie in the top 6 (with two goals in the series) who, a month ago, was living in a dorm and competing against college kids.

Our young guys are getting a good taste of playoff hockey, and even being down 3-2, it still feels like we have a solid chance.

And we are still a year or two from the “window” opening.

Basically, house money/gravy. Fantastic year! (Even with the rough stretches)

While I'd love for the Blues to win this series, I think the season's already been a success, and the future looks bright.

The team made a terrific choice in hiring Montgomery, the Edmonton signings have been tremendous, and getting back into the playoffs is a big step toward Cup contention. The win streak to squeak into the playoffs was the highlight of the season, and to get two wins against Winnipeg in the playoffs--in convincing fashion--has been impressive. There's good talent coming up from the minors, and there will be cap space to make improvements.

Anything else this season is gravy. I'm really pleased by the direction of the team.
