Glaus' enthusiasm to play for the Cards is welcome. Ignoring the stuff on the field for a bit, this is a huge upgrade off the field.

Like everyone else, the Blue Jays also know that Rolen has feuded with Cardinals manager Tony LaRussa for the past two years.

Tough to read anything into that. LaRussa has an ego to match or exceed even the best-paid superstar, but Larry Walker said in his short tenure with the team, most veteran Cardinals simply rolled their eyes at his quirks and moved past them, because LaRussa was a winner and made sound fundamental baseball decisions.

Unstated was the fact that he was also successful at bullying both ownership and some elements of the local media. The Cardinals - lavished with uncritical affection from their happy, middle-class, corn-fed, Midwestern fan base and graced to be playing in a one-newspaper town with a deep tradition of baseball excellence - had a cynical group of veterans personified by their distrustful superstar, Albert Pujols. It's possible that Rolen chafed under all that, just as he chafed under manager Larry Bowa in Philadelphia. That in itself is no big deal, because he's joining a list that includes everybody who ever played for Bowa.
I expect this from Philly writers, but Canada?
They must be sour because the Leafs are bad a-gain this year.
Which is due to their GM, who they "stole" from the Blues.

What does this whole sentence mean to anyway, i.e. what are they trying to say about Albert and why would Rolen chafe?

Scott Rolen and Troy Glaus each passed his physical today, according to a source with Major League Baseball. This clears the way for a swap of third basemen by the Cardinals and Toronto Blue Jays.

Completion of the trade appears to be a formality; the teams are filing the required paperwork with the Commissioner's office.

Someone explain to me how you can pass a BAsbeall Physical? Is the only qualification is the you are breathing?

Don't waste your time trying to understand it. It not understandable. Basically it would be like me writing:

The widget freeze cup factory train yard yeller' smurh walkenbach.

I mean, don't bother.

It'll sound trivial, but I still like it when I hear that someone wants to play for us.

For the more statistically minded, HERE'S an article that specifically discusses one reason why some metrics think Glaus is much better than others.

BTW, it's "bona fide", not "bonified". The latter sounds like something you do to fish before you eat it.
