But I agree with the rest of your take on The Wrestler.

i just saw that it was onDemand yesterday.. i like long, slow movies.. is this somethingG. Keenan wrote:Watched Soderberg's Che, parts 1 and 2. It's on Comcast OnDemand actually so if you don't want to spend 4 hours in the theater it's a great way to see it.
It's understated, but awesome.
I'm sorry, but I stand by this. The final strip club scene, where she's half heartedly dancing around on the stage of her crappy strip club, and nobody's paying attention? that's just depressing.G. I saw it this weekend and it's a good standard Hollywood thriller/action flick, and that's all it sets out to be. I was looking for a way to kill a couple hours before the Super Bowl, and Taken did the trick.lukethedrifter wrote:I saw Taken yesterday on video (it's crazy how soon the bootlegs come out). Liam Neeson was good as a guy who kills lots of people but WTF on the French with no subtitles then having a French bureaucrat speak English with an American accent then having Neeson pass himself off as the same w/o at least copping an accent française to the Eastern European baddies. Interestingly, co written by a Frenchie- Besson- the film seems somewhat anti French and pro torture.
Ultimately you end up with a standard Hollywood thriller/action flick.
