There should have been a third choice. I believe in my common sense.
I'm with ya. Dunc is a Minor Leaguer on a hot streak.

He was supposed to come down from the mountain about 300 times this season. Assuming he doesn't face the Brewers, he'll slug a healthy .490. La Russa will continue to put him in favorable matchups. Snayke doesn't care what he did in MiLB. My eyes are telling me a lot more than what he did in Springfield, Memphis and BFE.
Now, if you want to take a bet on how many times he'll look foolish going after a pop fly in left field, I'm up for that. We'll set the over/under at 76.

I'll take the over. I think Manny Ramirez could come in as a "defensive replacement" for Dunc.

Interestingly, Duncan made an excellent diving catch in the last Pittsburgh game.... Maybe there is hope. I think he will prove to be a better defender than Manny reasonably soon.

A very nice night for Duncan tonight. 6 bases in five at bats.... I think the kid is for real. He's got a great swing. And did you see that nice line drive single against the lefty. TLR needs to throw away his playbook and put that kid in night after night. It might cost Duncan a bit in the slugging percentage, but I think he becomes an everyday player somewhere; why not in St Louis.
Moreover, I think he is as good an outfielder as Dunn right now. Ok, the word "good" may seem like hyperbole, but my point is - not as bad as Dunn. And Duncan is going to get better.
So Steve, what is his slugging percentage since the bet?

A lot can be said about minor league AB's and your opinion of those stats, but right now what you've been seeing about his approach to hitting has been right what you would see with a very good prospect. He takes a lotta bad pitches and drives the ones he should to all fields. It's like people dissing on JROD with his OB% and BA except with Duncan you also get a great SLG% with his BA. He's a keeper and the naysayers are going to regret their prognostications because he is key to our postseason drive in the playoffs IMO.

Duncan is the new Matt Murton.

Murton never slugged like that.

.321/.386/.521 in 140 AB's in '05
Not quite as much, but the parallels are there. Corner OF with unspectacular minor league numbers starts turning it on once he's a little old for his level, then puts up gaudy Major league numbers in an extended stint.
