Again, it was a joke, if you said 'hey i pass the link on to the interviewee' I wouldn't have asked, again like I have said NUMEROUS times, when am I serious? (this might be number 2 in the last year and number one was a page ago)

I think anyone might assume that the interviewee would be able to find the site. When the player is asked for the interview I am sure this site is a part of that question "Would you be interviewed for gatewayredbirds.com?"

The thing is, how many sites get access like that to potential Cardinal players? I think some of us think of that section as sort of journalistic and very unique. And exciting. Maybe some of us take the interviews section a little more seriously than other people do, but I think it was easy to see that the quoting to infinity about crap that had nothing to do with the interview might be annoying.

So instead of trying to lighten them up (which, I believe, was the only real intention of people who interrupt serious baseball discussion... not trying to 'press boundaries' as someone put it), I'll just avoid them.

The problem is that comments that some say are lightening them up aren't the least bit funny. And to at least one person, a person that I enjoy reading and learn a great deal from, it's enough to just not deal with it anymore.

I don't think that you need to do that, Elphie. We're not trying to make BT an exclusive club for stats only folks.

There's a big difference between lightening up a thread and being an idiot to get laughs.

Posters (all posters) just need to think about their posts a little before they make the post. A simple rule of thumb that I try to follow... if a post that you're about to make either detracts from the original topic or attacks a poster in a topic or on the board then it's probably not worth posting. If your post doesn't do either of those things, but is just there to lighten up the thread, then it's probably just fine.

True. But the problem is different draw different lines on what "lighten up the thread" means.

I disagree. We aren't talking about grey areas here, we are talking about clearly sophomoric posts that I doubt appeal to anyone but the person posting.

Well, there were several people posting in the Kozma questions thread and there are also several more people who think that Baseball Talk has gotten intimidating (whether you want to believe it or not, jim)... so apparently some jokes are funny to more than just the person posting.

But like I said, I'm just staying away from anything now. Especially because I don't appreciate being spoken to in a manner that makes me feel like a bloody five-year-old (and I know I am not the only person who feels this way).

Elphie, I really think you're blowing this out of proportion. This isn't about light hearted threads in baseball talk. Michael heard the comments and we're not moving many threads out of BT anymore. It's about the interview thread and it's ccompletely valid to not want it all mucked up.
