yea i dont want to pile on but we are getting great spring weather right now. just amazing. took the afternoon off in fact.

Family in Central Illinois and St. Louis, so I've been hearing about it. It's 30 degrees right now but the streets are fine to drive. Just a slushy mess right now.

Normally I just read this thread to laugh at jim(partially because he complains too much, and partially because he's unlucky, I live ~25 miles north and his winter has been materially worse than mine), but these 2 months have broken me. I can handle all the snow you want to throw down, but going the entire month of February with only a few scant hours above 15 degrees or so is just brutal. Breaks your will to want to do anything. Then these last few weeks were getting better, I got to remember what 50 degrees felt like and optimism started growing. But this snow was demoralizing. Not for being uncommon(it's really not), but we deserved better than such a harsh regression back to winter.

The disparity in temps, between here and there are something. I just took a fifteen minute walk outside, no coat. Came back and it is 69 degrees. Grass is popping up, trees sprouting.
Southern WI is 30 (wind chill 22). I can't think of a time of year the weather difference is so dramatic for my clan up north. No wonder you all like Florida and Cancun so damn much.

I have to buy a lawnmower soon...need to mow my lawn and I left my old lawnmower at the old house because I knew the person that was moving into it and moving it seemed like a pain in the ass.
Anyway, I've tried to buy a few on craigslist and haven't had any success. I think I'm going to get a bagging electric mower, but I'm not sure.

Yep. Early spring time seems to bring out the greatest differences in temps. Not uncommon at all to see a 20-30 degree difference. St. Louis is tolerable, I could survive that. I know IMA explained this but there is some weird climate thing that happens when you get to St. Louis. Even where I grew up - less than 100 miles north of there - the difference is noticeable. Quick story: So each of the last few summers I'm in Chicago for a weekend or a few days and I get a text from Charles Wade Barkley and it always says the same thing: "You here?" and I know exactly what he's talking about. It's a sunny perfect day in the 80s and Charles just hops on a plane and flies to Chicago to hang out...The first time this happened, I asked Chuck, "What are you doing here?" and he said, "Chicago is the greatest summertime city in America!" And millions of us agree...Winter is awful and lasts forever and we don't have spring, but I'm even looking forward to going to Chicago this weekend for the Friday/Sunday Bulls-Cavs games AND the Blackhawks Game 5 (I presume there will be one) Saturday against Minnesota...
