John Brebbia is expected to be the White Sox closer this year, somehow.

Mets manager Carlos Mendoza announced the Mets will start José Quintana on Opening Day against the Brewers.
Quintana did enough this spring to outlast Tylor Megill for the starting job on Opening Day. The 35-year-old left-hander will have higher expectations than usual given the Mets’ injuries to their starting rotation. In his three spring starts, Quintana has posted an impressive 2.08 ERA with nine strikeouts across 8 2/3 innings.

Will Clark spent some time in the booth during the Savannah Bananas game, held at LSU stadium. Apparently, both his hips have been replaced. He just turned 60.

Jake Woodford was demolished in a losing effort against the Mariners on Saturday afternoon, giving up seven runs on nine hits over 3 2/3 innings in Cactus League play.
The 27-year-old hurler also walked a batter in the ballgame and did not record a strikeout. The assault began in the first inning, as the Mariners struck for four runs — the last two coming on a two-run blast off the bat of Dominic Canzone. Michael Papierski added a solo shot in the second, then run-scoring hits by Julio Rodriguez and Jorge Polanco finished the damage in the third inning. It wouldn’t be surprising to see Woodford sent down to minor league camp after this disaster.

USA Today’s Bob Nightengale reports the Padres and free agent outfielder Tommy Pham are close to a contract agreement.
Nightengale adds that it’ll likely be a one-year deal in the $3-4 million range. He also notes that the White Sox are looming as a potential landing spot, if the deal falls through. It’s a bit of an intriguing development as the Padres are currently rolling with Jurickson Profar in left field and don’t have a ton of fallback options besides unproven prospects like Graham Pauley, who doesn’t have a ton of outfield experience.

It's gonna turn out we royally [expletive] up on developing Hicks too, huh.
Jordan Hicks pitched five no-hit innings and struck out 10 as the Giants topped the A’s 4-1 on Monday.
Wow. Hicks was brilliant tonight even though he threw all of his pitches 4-5 mph slower than he had as a reliever. He got 20 missed swings on his 72 pitches against A’s regulars. Yes, that’s much like facing another team’s backups, but it’s pretty impressive, nevertheless.
