"Flaherty to the Pirates on a one year deal" is about right here. Pretty wild how quickly fortunes turn.
Low pressure, I could actually see him having a bounce back season. Hopefully for him he does.

I'd like that too. Maybe he could have a rebound like Quintana did in PIT?

It's just wild that a few years ago, he was likely in line for a $100mil contract once he hit free agency, or signed an extension. Now he's destined for a series of 1/$8 deals til the Independent League calls.

Marlins are interested in C Andrew Knizner, according to the Miami Herald’s Craig Mish.
Knizner has spent his entire career so far in St. Louis and was once thought to be the heir apparent to Yadier Molina. However, the 28-year-old hit hit .204/.292/.288 in 553 plate appearances between his 2019 debut and the end of the 2022 season, and then the Cardinals brought in Willson Contreras last season. Knizner did have 241 plate appearances as a back-up in 2023, hitting .241/.288/.424 with 10 homers and a 40.9% hard-hit rate. He could be a solid addition as a back-up to Christian Bethancourt, who Miami just traded for last week.

he apparently started using a splitter this year and it was pretty much unhittable

good for him; it sucked seeing him fall off a cliff like he did

But what a thing to watch was that perfect 27-out game after giving up a lead off hit. Closest I'll come to seeing a perfecto I'll bet.

Really happy Bader signed with the Mets. Looking forward to seeing him play in NY again.
