Prediction time... and this is going to sound nuts. I've watched every televised match that the USMNT has played since qualifying began. Anyone seen our record in the Klinnsman era? We don't lose very often. It's something like 11 loses in 3 years. I haven't gone through the entire schedule since he became coach, but I'm willing to bet that most of those loses have come from friendlies in Europe or on the road in hostile environments (playing in Honduras or Costa Rica against national teams). This is a neutral field match against a European power on the down swing that's playing undermanned.

I think that we put on a show tomorrow and win 3-1. Portugal implodes and then crumbles. Michael Bradley shows he's a world class player.

It's not that I think beating Portugal will be easy or that we're a lock to win. I just think we have one great performance in us, and we'll see it tomorrow.

I think that's a real possibility, Fat. Trying to think of the Klinsmann losses. Costa Rica there, Brazil in his first match, Ukraine in Cypress with a half strength squad, Belgium here after the Brian Strauss article condemning his ability to lead and right before the huge win streak starting with the 4-3 win over Germany, France there, Austria there, Jamaica there...there was a lot of bad results with him in his first year, but once he got rolling he's definitely gotten us some unprecedented wins.

I'm trying not to talk myself into anything with Portugal. Just want to take it as it comes. There are a lot of compelling reasons to be optimistic, I'll just say that.

ALONE. Where no one will make me self conscious about being a total nervous wreck.

Per the old guy at the diner I'm having breakfast at, the US has to shutdown Messimore to have a chance. He is the Gretzky of soccer.

So... is he mixing Messi with Altidore in an attempt to say Ronaldo? That's a better effort than you'll get from most old guys at the diner.

There for a second, I was worried we'd have to shut down Ronaldo AND Messimore. Thank goodness Messimore is a made up person; he sounds bad ass.

my rec league soccer team is playing in the championship game today, so after we win, we're all headed to the bar afterwards to catch the game.

Man i really wish Germany had won to make things easier for us, but hey, it's the world cup, ya gotta earn it.

It'll at least least make for a more exciting game.
