Nothing wrong with drinking $1 rail gin in a booth at 9am.
I bought this at LeGrand's a few weeks ago:

If you like absurd amounts of hops in your beer, you can't go wrong. Don't be turned off by the fact that it's put out by Sierra Nevada.
That's a great IPA, an example of what I'd call well balanced. Plenty of hops but enough malt and just a bit of citrus to fill out the flavor. As IPAs go it's also a good deal at $8.99 for a six pack, at least that's what it costs around here. Dogfish, Bells, and the like all run closer to $11.
Is it balanced? or absurd?
I don't think it has an absurd amount of hops, but that's just my taste. It's going to be subjective based on your palate. Absurd hops, imo, would be something like a Surly Furious or a Dogfish 120 minute.

There is at a specific point in time, depending on your situation.

The best beer is the full one in my hand.

The worst beer is the last empty bottle thrown into the recycling bin.

Tried a few beers over the weekend.

Yazoo Brewery in Nashvilleseems comparable to Schlafly's - a midsize brewer who's product gets carried by most local bars.
Good Pale ale and Dos Perros which (amber Ale?).Image
Didn't get to their tap room though-very limited hours.

drank a couple from Blackstone Brewery in Nashville Decent beer -enjoyed the Nut Brown Ale, and Oatmeal Stout was Ok. Their brewpub was not somewhere I'll hurry back to. A local place, but too much in style like its competition on the main drag - not quite a Fridays etc but kind of. Needs more dirt and character.

Dog Fish Head 90 Minute IPA. Excellent beer - but knocked me on my arse with 9% abv.

update on Bell's Two-hearted- I love the beer but,

So what would you say is the best "underrated" beer. I don't know how to define that (so feel free to explain), but I would say that beers that don't get much air time in discussions like we have going here but a brand that you wouldn't want to be without a few in your fridge. Or beers that might that might get there nose turned up at them by aficionados.

Mine is plain old Budweiser. I really like it, and if I had to pick 10 beers to live from for the rest of my life Bud would be there.

Amberbock is a pretty good beer.

I'm a fan of plain ol' Sam Adams. That would probably get snubbed by a lot of snobs too.

Honestly, a lot of microbrews try too hard for my tastes. Trying to come up with some funky new flavor or trying to push the boundaries.
