We’re going to be starting this week watching the TNG.

I think if I had one episode to show, in order to find out if someone is going to like Trek, it would The Measure of A Man. It helps if you have the background and already love Data, but that episode is a) very relevant to today's earliest conversations regarding artificial sentience/racism/fascism/populism, b) the morality of Star Trek embodied in Picard, and c) a stone cold classic Pat Stew performance.

While I was aware of trek and had liked tng here and there, I got hooked in my 20s when I saw tng Darmok, and then just kept watching from there.

If you do start with tng, oof, maybe skip to season 3. 1 and 2 are ROUGH.
