More like a runner on third, no outs. That touchdown was basically a foregone conclusion.

Yeah actually probably runner on third one out. They had three downs and a time out and 20 seconds, so not infinite tries but several.

OC Darrell Bevell calls the plays for Seattle, though Carroll took the blame in the presser (and rightly so, he's head coach-has power to veto play calls etc).

I don't know what was going thru Bellicheck,s head not taking a timeout before that play, but I dare say it took balls of steel not to call TO there. At that point -only two things could help Patriots, more time on clock, or extra bit of chaos to make Seattle do something dumb/miracle stop.

That extra bit of chaos may have been a factor. I am guessing that if Seattle had time to huddle up on the sideline before that play call, they wouldn't have made that play call.

It almost seemed like New England was going to just give them the TD because it was inevitable anyway. 1 minute on the clock was plenty of time for Brady to work his magic.

Mind-boggling end to what turned out to be a pretty good game, regardless of how much you hate both teams.

I didn't have a big problem with passing the ball. With 25 seconds left, and 1 time out, you have to pass on 2nd down, so that you can run on 3rd down, call your time out, and have an option on 4th down.

And of course Seattle wanted to run the clock so that when they did score, the Pats had as little time as possible to try to come back.

But Seattle messed up by burning too much time and forced themselves into a passing situation. Ideally, they should have ran with 35 seconds left, saved the time out, run with 10 seconds left, use the time out, and then have 4th down with 5 seconds left. This would have given them 3 running plays from the 1 and left the Pats with no more than 30 seconds left.

But once they let the clock go inside of 30, running 3 times was no longer an option. They lost the opportunity to go to their strength on 2nd down. And that's what killed them.

Does this mean we can stop calling that Packers vs Seahawks game their "game 6"? Still gotta win game 7.

Was anyone actually saying this? It's the first I've heard of it.

One other thing.....I think the type of passing play the Seahawks ran at the end was bad. If they ran a traditional goal line set with 2 or 3 tight ends, they could have created the illuision of a run with a play action pass, and throw the ball to a tight end.

But the Seahawks somewhat telegraphed a pass by having 3 receivers in the game. That's on the coaching staff.

At my home, this conversation happened after Lynch ran to the 1:

Friend: "The Patriots are going to need a miracle interception to stop them."
Me: "There's no way they pass the ball here. Just run it in and win the game. But it's weird that Belicheck is just watching the clock bleed away."
Friend: "Right."
Me: "If I'm Seattle, I don't snap it until about 2 on the play clock." (pause) "Wait, why is he passing? Are you kidding me??"

They left 3 receivers in the game bc the Pats went with their goal line stand D.
