When did fireworks turn into such a dick measuring contest? Is it because we're great again? Every other house is shooting off mortars. People keep getting dumber and the fireworks are getting stronger. I can't imagine anything going wrong.

Tell me about it. We have a huge fireworks show on the 3rd and then all the burbs have them on the 4th but people still want to have their own bs amateur fireworks show. My neighbor across the back alley was literally firing them into the trees over his house. I told him I could save him the time and just burn his place down. We don't like each other very much.

I live in a townhouse and have a new neighbor on one side of me. He seems to be ignorant of the fact that he can't just do whatever he wants with his unit. The concept of declarations and covenants seems foreign to him. Anyway, he was setting of fireworks from "his" backyard and it kind of pissed me off. Not in an old man "get off my lawn" way, but if he wants to risk burning down his house then he should have bought a single family home. Instead he is risking burning down 4 homes.

One year a friend brought some homemade 'fireworks' to a bbq in Soulard. The next year there was a definitive ban on ANY fireworks. He only brought a couple and they weren't anything that shot into the air so the thought was that it was OK. Then he placed one under in a cooler and set it upside down. It blew the cooler over the power wires and into the parking area outside of the fence. The cooler was destroyed. That was it for the 'fireworks' obviously. He didn't bring fireworks, he brought small bombs.

That's the part that really gets on my nerves...my dog goes insane and it takes me all night to calm him down.

My comment last night was prompted by driving past a cul de sac where multiple women with crying infants in their arms were standing like 10 feet away from some hillbilly lighting a mortar tube with a cigarette.
