Whatever he ultimately gets, whatever teams decide to offer him, and whatever random arbitrary dollar amount you want to make up (it has to be $22M!!!!), doesn't change the fact that it's a fertile market for him with lots of high-payroll suitors.
I mean... if he gets $20M per year, that means it was a horrible FA market for Matt Holliday?

Yeah, I don't get this either. He's going to get paid large, probably overpaid. He's arguably the top hitter available. $18, $20, $22, it's a good year regardless.

haha, I just like to get you guys going. sorry. I still don't think he'll get nearly as much as he (or Boras) is seeking, but I never thought about the Angels. They could be a big player. Whoever responded to me first was right, I just felt like getting some fun responses

I'm hoping the Red Sox re-sign Bay, taking them out of the running. I hope the Yankees keep Damon and Matsui. The Mets do seem like a distinct possibility, but I'm hoping they can't outbid us due to the fact that they have so much money tied up in half a dozen players--and they have several holes to fill.
In addition to NYY, BOS, NYM and LAA, I would expect ATL and SF to pursue Holliday.

Wainwright apparently mentioned something on the radio about Holliday ultimately signing with the Cards.
I don't know if that's based on conversations he's had with him or just hopes and dreams. Either way, it's relatively meaningless but mildly newsworthy.

here's allegedly what he said
"I think he'll be back. I just know Matt. I know Matt wants to be back. I know his family was really happy here. It is going to take a perfect situation to get him out of St. Louis."
