Dominic Leone will serve as the Giants' opener in Friday's game versus the Cubs.

He'll kick off what will be a bullpen game for the Giants. Leone has been excellent this season with a 1.55 ERA and 38/20 K/BB ratio over 40 2/3 innings.

Breyvic Valera went 3-for-3 with three RBI and a walk versus the Rays on Monday.

Valera also had three RBI yesterday in the 22-run game. He's been filling in at third base with both Cavan Biggio and Santiago Espinal absent. He's not really known for his bat, but with the Blue Jays surging, he's upped his OPS from .511 to .711 this month.

Tony still likes to hit people.

Wright was ejected from Thursday's 9-3 loss after hitting Ohtani in the calf with a pitch with two outs and nobody on in the ninth. La Russa also was ejected -- his third this season -- by crew chief Bill Welke for arguing.

JKD
Lane Thomas - maybe for real? He hits the ball hard (career avg. 90.8 EV, 44% hard-hit rate), has a good eye (12.8% BB) and, SSS caveats included, seems to have leveled up the game power since getting to the Nats and having pretty much everyday ABs (15 XBH in 140 PAs). Given that he can competently play all around the outfield it seems like he is definitely a guy who'll be on the roster, but does he have above-average regular upside?

Kevin Goldstein
He's for real in that he's a big leaguer. I think he might even be an every day one, but I'm not convinced he's a star.

Alcantara having a hell of a season.

The anti-Always Trade Prospects crowd who scoffed at the idea of trading someone like Winn and/or Thompson for Trea Turner/Max Scherzer (definitely better packages than LA had) need to also agree that Mo lost the Alcantara headlined package for Ozuna. Can't have it both ways!
