Officially? Nah, we still have a couple weeks since the Winter Solstice was Dec 21 or whatever. I always get the Lunar Equinox and Vernal Equinox confused as to which happens in March to begin the first official day of Spring and which happens in September to begin the first official day of Fall, but am too lazy to spend 10 seconds Googling it.stlouie_lipp wrote:Today is the last day of winter.

No, I mean after today the forecast is very spring like. Today is the last day of winter in my mind.Swirls wrote:Officially? we got about 4 inches over the last 4-5 days, so mainly just an annoyance but it's supposed to get to the 60's for the next 5 days or so.

I'm supposed to be in Atlanta tomorrow afternoon for a rehearsal/dinner and then wedding on Saturday. Trips like this are always kind of fun, it's like picking out the best/safest/fastest route is a challenge, one which I always welcome. I think we're just going to head south tonight and try to get to Jackson, MS if it is possible then make the rest of the drive tomorrow morning. Going through Memphis/Tupelo looks like a bad idea.

We still have a good 6-12" of snowpack. It's weird looking, even though it's been way below freezing the direct sunlight is melting the top layer and then it's freezing a layer of crust on top of the snow. It's shiny and icy looking, it looks weird.
edit - I just went outside to move a car in to the drive, and it's so bizarre looking with the street lights and moon shining off of the ice over the snow. It looks fake.
And it's still colder than [expletive]. Son of a [expletive] it's cold.

41, and when I go out the side door where it's protected by the wind it's downright spring feeling. We still have a boat load of snow pack to melt, but I'm hoping that is taken care of this week. Amazing the difference of going outside where it doesn't sting.

I could literally hear the snow melting today. The ice on top of the snow collapsing, the water running down the down spouts, trickling down the street into the storm drains. Beautiful sound.
