Happy 4/20 everyone! Please be aware that this one-hit wonder from the early ‘aughts has some sexually explicit language. I’m not sure why @CardsofSTL didn’t include this in his Xlist playlist.
Radley you were obviously too enraptured by the Bad Touch to remember that this was track #1 on the X List

I should’ve remembered that but then I got high.

I was never a weed kid. I smoked it maybe a half dozen times before I turned 30. In my early 30's, my body started changing. And my brain, I guess. I started to struggle falling asleep, but I have to get up for work early, so I'd wake up like a zombie with 4 hours of sleep every morning, and immediately comfort myself with coffee and an unhealthy drive thru breakfast. That lead to weight gain, plummeting energy levels, and an unhealthy cycle that just kept getting worse. When I was around 33 I took a vacation in Washington and decided to hit up a dispensary, because I had been told by people I trust that weed would really help with my sleep.

That changed my life because it helped with my sleep so much that I immediately got my medical card. Increased sleep lead to more energy to make healthy, controlled choices over my behavior, especially early in the day. That lead to having more energy to start exercising. That was hard at first, after being essentially sedentary for more than 10 years. About a month in, I turned the corner and my energy levels skyrocketed. Now, in the evenings when I have a hard time shutting my brain off, I smoke and the noise in my very active brain decreases to a gentle hum. I've lost 50 pounds, I have more energy than I did in my mid-20's, I look better and feel better, my confidence is increased and I'm a much less miserable, open and happy person with more energy and love to invest in my life and the people I care about. I don't drink alcohol anymore, not because I had an unhealthy relationship to it, but because the only thing I needed it for was to quiet my brain and relax. Weed does that with zero additional calories, sugar, or hangover to mess up my metabolism and energy levels the next day. I have no use for alcohol, unless I'm hanging out with people at a bar or restaurant. Weed has made me a much healthier, happier, and more productive person. I love it. I'm extremely grateful for it.

Happy 4/20!
I want to piggyback off of thrill. I’d never used weed before it became legal in Missouri. A friend suggested I try edibles to help with both sleep disorders and anxiety/depression. I have not regretted it. My sleep patterns still aren’t the best but I am at least able to get a consistent routine, but my depression has improved significantly since the start of the year. I do take prescription medication and go to therapy, so it’s not entirely the weed. Additionally , I just enjoy the feeling. I am with thrill that I don’t really have a use for alcohol anymore because I can get a sensation that lasts longer and I don’t have a pool of beer sloshing around in my belly. The only thing I have to do is stay hydrated and keep my water handy because I get cotton mouth pretty intensely.

My dispensary didn’t have the 10mg gummies I usually get, but they did have 20mg from the same company. It’s a bit intense but I have not felt like I am not in control or completely useless.

Cut the 20mg ones in half...

I sure drink a lot less now as well.

I don't like edibles because of the delayed response/metabolization, and I feel like I can control my dose with much more control and immediacy with smoking. MCG, have you tried smoking at night instead? I feel like you might see some even better results with your sleep. A real sledgehammer of an indica about 30 minutes before bed will absolutely get the job done.

We've been using THC-8 gummies and it's so weird that these things are legal in Indiana and pot isn't. I don't think people should operate a vehicle in either case, whatever they think about their capabilities, but there's no way I should ever drive after taking one of those. The high is kind of weird and it does take a while. After about 45 minutes it kicks in fully and you just feel silly and progressively sleepier. Which is it's biggest advantage for me. I typically don't wake up at all like I do most nights without it.

I have some indica gummies with melatonin in them as well. They can get the job done, but I don’t use them if I’ve taken something else. They hit like a truck. The first time I took them, I remember it took everything I had just to roll over.

I don’t really like the smell of pot smoke so I haven’t tried it. Honestly, I really enjoy the edibles because of the delayed release and then the long-lasting effects. I never go anywhere after taking one. Most times I’m just sitting on the couch watching sports or comedies.

Delta 8 and Delta 9 were accidentally legalized in a 2018 farm bill a few years ago. It legalized hemp and THC up to a certain level by weight, but then manufacturers concentrated that THC.. Congress has to re-authorize the farm bill again this year, so they'll either close the loophole and prohibit Delta 8 and 9...or they'll boof it again and just create different loopholes that creative chemists and companies can capitalize upon. I'd put my money on the latter.

I bought a disposable vape pen last week. The first couple of times, either my tolerance is higher than I thought or I didn't know what I was doing (probably the latter.) It's been better since. I've gone three nights in a row without needing to take Trazodone to sleep. I just take two large-ish pulls off the vape, maybe an hour before bed so I can enjoy the sensation for a while.

I try to stay away from Trazodone. I see it prescribed often at work and people are completely dependent on it to sleep. Plus if you don't fall asleep within like 45 mins of taking it, it can have the reverse affect and keep you up and loopy. Especially when taken inconsistently.

I would love to take gummies. I've been a daily herb smoker since I was 21 (literally never had THC until then). I have whatever digestive enzyme they say does not process the edibles. My brothers are the same. Brownies, gummies, etc have never had much of an effect. When I was at a bachelor party trip a few years back, I took 100mg worth of gummies at one time and it felt equivalent to smoking a bowl or two, but I will say the "high" lasted a lot longer.
