I'd like to point out there is no gym where I am so workouts consist of [expletive] like yoga or jogging. Whatever crap Michelle Obama comes up with for the day. I think the nearest gym is about 40 miles away. Bit too far for going to work out. I actually wouldn't mind weight training or that cardio weight training stuff. Hell even spin classes sound kind of fun.

Is that guy in that gif clean and jerking about 130lbs? What a [expletive] btw.

You could ride a bike to the gym and get a really great workout.

The key to bike riding for me is racing. Actually that's the key to everything for me. If I can race something or someone while working out I'm probably going to like it alot. Back in college my roomate and I used to do some stationary bike stuff and they had a race mode. You looked at a simulated course with mountains and such and raced each other. The bike automatically adjusted the tension going up hill so it made you work harder. I loved it. Best workouts ever.

I would actually recommend against this. Your weight can fluctuate so much day to day without being an indicator of progress either way. Back when I had a lot of weight to lose I would weigh myself everyday. I would have a really good day with my diet and in the gym and then the next morning the scale said the same or even more and I would get discouraged and wonder why I put myself through that for no results. If you are trying to lose significant weight I would suggest weighing yourself once a week, on the same day at the same time, to track your progress.
Once a week is close enough. But the act of doing it often, even when you have to discount the fluctuations, can be a motivator for your decisions that day.

I find the fluctuations to be interesting for cause-effect, and don't fear them anymore -how much weight did I lose after taking that dump? if it's hot out how much I weighed before and after (too much weight loss is bad). I also have that same experience, where it takes a few days to see the effect of good diet/exercise days. I put on 7 base lbs in a week after running marathon-the body making an adaption I figured. I notice I will lose 2 lbs with a good night's sleep. It's all good to know.

1) You can do a bodyweight tabata (interval training) that will kick your ass. No need for a gym.

2) He's probably just starting out, but yes, that is not a lot of weight. I just grabbed the first burpee gif I saw that had normal people in it.

3) Every 6 months, we test 1 rep maxes at my gym in back squat/bench/conventional deadlift - I crossed 900lbs for the first time since college on Saturday. That's the motivator for me, get strong, then get stronger.

900 is pretty lame jod. When you get to 1000 come talk to me. Better start hittin' it.

Sounds like a great motivator.

Anecdote time. Our Junior year of high school we had this all school Olympics thing. There were all sorts of competitions like trivia, math, and of course things like weight lifting. The two biggest guys in each class did the lifting. It came down to deadlift and I couldn't bench for crap but I could deadlift with the best. I think we needed something like 400lbs to win but being the cocky little prick I was I told them to stick 525 on to make win by a big margin. So there in front of the whole school I nailed it. Just to show off I did five of them. I was hurting, and I had shorts on so the bar rubbed my leg and I was bleeding everywhere. At the time Nic and I were kind of on the outs but she told me years later she would always remember that day because she thought I was such a bad ass lifting all that weight with blood pouring down my legs. lol

/relieving the glory days.

and yes myself and most of my friends were on [expletive] we were not supposed to be on as high school football players back then. I really felt like I had a shot to play football and/or baseball in college so I was looking for anything I could to get there. kinda dumb looking back.

That's the goal for the next round. I have two torn rotator cuffs, bench is realllly holding me back. 405 deadlift, 335 squat, only 200 bench. I'll get there.

I can do 1000 pounds already, when I substitute bicep curl in for the bench. Ah yes, those high protein clam chowdah shakes kick ass. Is it any wonder I need to have my gym clothes tailored for the club.
