"beat her like a drum" is aimed directly at Clinton's gender? Because they used the pronoun her?

Obama knew what he was doing, he went for the laugh, he got it, then he got caught. Knowing they'd likely get caught with this, their defense is, "Well, McCain's said the same kinds of things before. He's used that line before."

Whatever.

And if they didn't think people would jump on this, they're not half as smart as I once gave them credit for.

Stick to stealing from a cartoon writer.

I love celebrities:
Actor Matt Damon has lashed out at U.S. Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin - insisting she's been chosen for "political purposes".

Damon fears Palin's running-mate John McCain won't survive a full four-year-term as president at age 72, and claims the Alaskan governor taking over would be disastrous.

He says, "I think there's a really good chance Sarah Palin could become president, and I think that's a really scary thing. It's like a really bad Disney movie, the hockey mom, you know, 'Oh, I'm just a hockey mom from Alaska'... and she's facing down (former Russian) President (Vladimir) Putin... It's totally absurd... It's a really terrifying possibility."

And Damon takes issue with Palin's take on the creation: "I need to know if she thinks dinosaurs were here (on earth) 4,000 years ago, I really do - because she's gonna have the nuclear codes."
I think he hit all the cliches.

Why should people have jumped on it?

Palin just said in her Alaska speech that they are running on a reform agenda. Thank god.

What's wrong with that? I find her "hockey mom" portrayal completely hokey.

"lipstick on a pig" is aimed directly at Palin's gender? because they used the word "lipstick"?

Here's the offending quote. It requires a fertile imagination to conclude that this is some kind of sexist reference to Palin. Why do we have to believe in these invented controversies during election season?

Faux outrage to divert the attention from the issues.

If he didn't mean it he's stupid. The crowd thought he was referring to her, and they ate it up.

As for the author of the political cartoons...yeah, he cited him AFTER the paper contacted them. Three times in four days. Tough getting new material I guess. I think it's funny...and I mean nothing partisan about that.
