Re: Papal Conclave Day 2: We have a pope!
I tell this joke sometimes about this guy named Dave who knows everyone. He is telling his friend how he knows everyone and his friend doesn't believe him. So Dave says name someone. Well at this point they see a commercial for Mission Impossible and he says Tom Cruise. Dave says on yeah I know Tom in fact I need to give something to him let's go see him. So they go and knock on this door and Tom Cruise answers and he says "hey Dave! How you doing."
So on the way home an Elton John song comes on and his friend says "I bet you don't know him." Dave says oh yeah, he's actually playing a show tonight let's go and we'll go backstage and I'll introduce you. So they go and Dave goes back stage and Elton John is like "Dave my man how are you?"
Now his buddy is thinking ok what about the Pope? So Dave says oh yeah I know the Pope we'll go over to the Vatican and see him. I'll go in and when he comes out on the balcony to wave I'll come out with him. You will have to stay down below though because of security. So Dave goes in the Vatican and he and the Pope come out on the balcony. As he looks down he sees his buddy passed out on the ground so he runs down to see what happened. He asks the guy next to his friend "hey what happened to my friend?" The guy says "oh hey Dave, yeah I don't know we were just talking and then we looked up and I saw you on the balcony and I said hey whose that with Dave up there? and he just passed out."
So I told my wife this joke years ago and she didn't really get it. So today we are watching the replay of the Pope coming out on the balcony for the first time and I said "Hey whose that up there with Dave." If looks could kill I'd be dead.

You'd think he should be partial to either a Padre or a Cardinal.
