Right. We've talked about 1964, but how about 1963? The Cards went 19-1 at one point in September to pull within striking distance of the Dodgers, but lost a couple of close games to LA to end their chances. One of those losses was the famous Dick Nen homer off Bob Gibson.

If the Cardinals can be within 2 games with 6 to play, Atlanta could lose 4 of 6 to Washington and Philadelphia and the Cardinals could sweep Chicago and Houston. Still a long shot...

So I was kind of anxious to see that the Braves played the Phillies three more times, until I realized that we play the Phillies four more times...
