I had to write a poem in iambic pentameter in class today. Here is my work:

This class is hard when you don't do the work
If I had read the books I would not be
So stressed that I can't write a poem that's good
The fear that I'll do bad for all to see

Can I be smart when I am such a bum?
Next time when I do read my work won't suck
I laze and sigh but don't pick up a pen
Then go to sleep cause I don't give a [expletive].

What are those? I have never even heard of that first word and would challenge it in a game of Scrabble.

Haiku is a Japanese poetic form of three lines of five syllables, seven syllables, and five syllables. It often conveys an idea very concisely with images.

For instance, here's my haiku from 2007 about the Cardinal's starting pitching (there was a thread about a destroyed Hummer at the same time):

Cardinal starting
like trashed Hummer in Social:
Two expensive wrecks.

Of course, light verse is humorous poetry.

No see that helps alot appreciating these things. That went from being just ridiculously stupid to kind of cool with just that little tidbit.

I'd bet anyone on this forum a hundy that I could beat them in a best-of-3 at Scrabble, face up.

Just sayin'

Oh, on topic: I have never had fun reading poetry. Ever. I'll take a well-written short story, novel, or song any day.

All songs with lyrics are poems, just fyi.
