Some of you have certainly seen the pillars of creation?

They don't exist any more.
"[They] have been destroyed. I use the past tense because the nebula is 7,000 light-years away," said Nicolas Flagey, a French doctoral student working for NASA.

In other words, light from the nebula has taken 7,000 years to reach Earth, and everything we see is that much out of date.
Everything we see of it is from 7000 years ago. 3000 years before the pyramids at Giza. Not long after the start of agriculture. The supernova they think is going to wipe it out is starting to be visible but won't actually destroy the pillars for 1000 years, since it travels at 10% the speed of light. That means it would take nearly 40 years to travel from the top of the left pillar to the bottom. For comparison, if our sun went supernova it'd take about 50 seconds to reach Earth.

Cool night view of earth and the lights.

A few things caught my eye:

Looks how much light comes from the Jones Islands in AK and just off the coast of cludad del carmen, Mexico. I guess it's just the oil platforms, but good night they put out a lot of light.

Also, lol at North Korea.
