I feel pretty good about Looper's chances of giving us at least five decent innings each time out, and our bullpen's deep enough to where someone like Franklin can supplement Looper.

Reyes, OTOH, I tend to worry about - and it seems to me, so are the Cards, which is why Reyes won't pitch for a week after his final spring start this Friday against Troy Cate and the Memphis Redbirds. Frankly, I won't be surprised if Cate (being a lefty) shuts us down while Reyes struggles against Ludwick, Bozied, Ankiel, Marrero, and the rest of the Memphis boys.

Outside of one start Reyes has pitched as well as anyone we have this spring. Why would he worry you? Especially more then Looper? And the Cardinals don't seem to be concerned about him. His era before the last start was under 1, was getting more groundballs and getting his Ks. I don't understand where the concern comes from, based off how he's done this spring. If it's based off last season, then I can't argue.

I have a feeling that it's for Looper to face a righty-heavy lineup in the Cubs and to keep Reyes out of Wrigley. Or some other leverage or notecard-type factor. I don't think he has a layoff because they are "worried about him" it's got to be purely matchup oriented, there's been all manner of things posited over the past couple of days. Notice that the rotation starts over on the second series, and it goes Carpenter - Wainwright - Reyes and so on, on the second series.

Anyone have a clue on a pitch count for Looper? He's just gone a terrific 6.2 so far.

"Tyler Johnson, comes in as a specialty pitcher to get outs." Awesome.

Every time a Cardinals hitter reaches safely on a single to the OF, mlb.com gameday says "so and so singles on a fly ball to so and so".

WTFreak?

The Cards have hit like 8 Texas Leaguers today.

The Spring has not been kind to Chad Bradford: 9.58 ERA, and I'm pretty sure that everytime the Cardinals have faced him they've scored on him.

6.2 IP, 4 H, 2 K for Looper, with 11 of 17 outs being ground balls.

Almost got through the lineup 3 times this go-round. Whoa.

I'm starting to become confident with Looper as a number 5 starter.
