I don't think so. If he's not going to be effective as a starter I don't see why he'd be any use in the pen. His stuff is either going to come back or not. If it does there's no reason not to start him, and if it doesn't, he can no longer get MLB hitters out.
I wasn't thinking in terms of Mulder not being able to get hitters out. I was thinking back to when the Cards used Morris out of the pen when he was coming back from surgery.
Ah, gotcha. I guess they could do that to ease him in.

Stranger things have happened.
I expect Looper to have a respectable ERA. What I don't expect him to do is give us many innings.

This thread seems to have been made for me to comment on. The outfield part, at least. Not the rotation part.
Ankiel needs to be the 4th outfielder! Well, after he gets a bunch of Triple-A at bats first.
