Is that OPS+ altitude adjusted?
Also, Teix dominates in counting stats, which I think do matter in salary compensation for most ball clubs, and is a switch hitter. They have identical slugging %s, so yeah, it's pretty close. But if I had to choose between Teix and Holliday, i'd take the 1b.
a) OPS+ is adjusted, and b) WAR is a counting stat that probably influences salary compensation (or something like it) more than RBIs or whatever.

But what does all this have to do with Indiana basketball?

I wanted Holliday to stay with the Rockies, a young franchise that needs to build tradition around players like Matt. But that didn't happen, and they got a pretty good return for him in Gonzalez and Street (along with LHP Greg Street, who's been battling shoulder fatigue).

It'd be nice to see him settle in with the Cards, but I won't lose any sleep if he doesn't. He got a taste of what being a Redbird is all about which could possibly give us an advantage, but everyone recognizes that we won't win a straight bidding war.

A Yankee lineup with Holliday added would be amazing. Especially since he, Teixeira and Swisher are all the same age.

If he wants to be a Cardinal it would still make sense to act like he wanted to play in NY - at the minimum to get more money out of STL.

I'm not a fan of a long term Holliday contract without a Pujols contract. Just seems a little reckless. When's Carp's contract up?

Why in the world would he go to the Brewers? C'mon man. :?

If Holliday leaves (I think he will), we can go after these names:

Jason Bay
Jermaine Dye
Vlad Guerrero
Bobby Abreu
Adam Dunn
Josh Willingham
Carl Crawford
Manny Ramirez

Some trade targets and FA's. We will have money...and offense is the need going forward. I say if Holliday leaves...trade Luddy for Carl Crawford and lock him up long term. Then re-sign DeRosa at third to bat fifth. But then you're still short a big bat in the 4 hole. It's gonna be an interesting, but tough offseason in St. Louis.

As nice as it would be to get Crawford, I don't see TB giving him up for Ludwick (who is getting more expensive) when he is essentially coming off of a career season (career highs in SBs and OBP) and Luddy regressed.

Plus the Rays trading Crawford would mean they're depending on BJ Upton to rebound from his 2 year slide-o-suck.
