Once Duncan gave Looper a full endorsement, I became intrigued. This will be an interesting story to follow.

What a day for the Skipper. He and JRod go back to back big flys. 9-1 Cards, bottom 7th.

And really, what does he have to do? At best, he's the #5. To help the team improve, he has to be better than Jason Marquis was last year. Is that really such a difficult task?

Travis Smith sighting! (gave up the jacks to Schumaker and Rodriguez)

Good to see he's still alive and kicking in the league. I remember when he was one of the emergency starters the Cards desperately needed in '02 when they had somewhere around 16 different players start at least one game that year.

Looper is capable. He could even post an ERA below 5, which would give the team at least a shot at winning. If Kip Wells works out, we could have a more than decent rotation.

Edgar Gonzalez hits a 2-run HR. (Travis Hanson scored. Mmmm-bop!)

11-1 Cards is the final.

Looper gets the win, lowers his ERA to 1.42.

Cavazos, Worrell pitch scoreless innings.
