This made me laugh. Yeah like, "Jeb... Your campaign, 'WOOF!'"

What a jackass. I hope the parents take her to court. I guess you'll do anything for attention...
With Carly, you could have ended it right there.

what keeps hopeless candidates in the race?

Delusion? Attention/ PR for whatever else you are selling(talk radio, books, etc?
It can not be influence the party platform-you would need at least a chunk of votes to do that.

I am wondering how much is just sucking their campaign funds dry for personal use(friends on payroll, expense reimbursements).

They are surrounded by people telling them if a couple things happen a certain way you are right back in it. These people also get 10% of the ad buys and a huge salary so yeah they are going to keep the candidate in it as long as thy can.

Is anyone giving Carly Fiorina money at this point?

I think it is all about the money.
I used to think maybe it was because they thought things could turn. But in order for that to happen, they would need to take a chance and say something risky in order to get them attention. None of them did that in the debate really.

If some politician had done this with my 4 year old, I would request that kidnapping charges be filed. Taking four year olds on a field trip to a botanical garden, without their parents' permission, in order to use them in a photo op while you blather about abortion? [expletive] no. I'd feel the same whether it was a pro choice or pro life rally you stole my kid for.

long story short. that is it. Actually winning primary would be most these folks worst nightmare.

Besides the cross promo with the book, job, lobbying gig, reality show career -the Campaign money raised can be used for almost anything. It would be interesting(if one were colossally bored) to see where Huckabee, or Carson got their money and how it's spent. Mike Huckabee sure seems to spend most his campaign time fishing.

It's a clever gig, early on, score a million bucks from a Wall St, real estate or Vegas mogul -then it's off with the team to Hawaii for planning with the entourage. Who was that Dem that would always run? the lawyer from the South -Ah John Edwards.
