FWIW, the host school to that game is situated in an old nice leafy neighborhood, and the team make-up similar to the Webster team that didn't want to come there. the park is several blocks away, but still nice (even with Schlich nearby )- especially at 9am on a Saturday. Hell, I doubt Schich is even up by then.

the saga is facebooky overblown, but sooo St. Louis w/r/t how provincial many people are here. We are metropolitan area with small town attitude (sometimes this is good, and in this case it is not)

I guess some of it is human nature, to be fearful of unfamiliar places and just base their image off random things they heard on news over the years. I'll admit, I get that uneasy feeling, ironically whenever I head to outskirts in St. Louis (sometimes for kid's sports) - so this is where all the road rage happens and all the angry -armed Trump people are?

I was in Troy/Wentzville area - I think of the police blotter stuff I read in the paper - (lots of domestic bad stuff, drugs) and that shapes my view. And it doesn't take much to ratify this stereotype when stopping at the C-store. Meanwhile, with the familiarity, I'm more comfortable in city-ish places, and my own burb where there is surge in home/car burglary.

it takes effort to not be ignorant about where other people live, especially in STL area where it's naturally segregated.

It's funny what it takes to make people think something is unsafe. I mean obviously black people make something unsafe and tattoos too. Especially black people with tattoos.

Ok seriously though. A couple days ago someone posts that someone they know was jumped by four black guys in our tiny little town of which there are no black people. Of course the whole town was in an uproar, what is happening to our sweet little town. Then the next day it comes out it was completely made up. Of course it was there aren't minorities here. Still now I've heard two people reference the "mugging" and how it's now unsafe here. Cracks me up.

And those same U City ppl won't send their kids to U City HS.
