I was a fan of "The Following" as well. I've only watched the first episode & still have the second one on DVR.
One show that I ended up watching because my wife DVR'd it was "The Real Husbands of Hollywood" which is a spoof on all those crazy housewives shows & the two I've seen have been pretty damn funny.

The Americans was great. I also can't get "Tusk" out of my head now, which is a ok.Vidor wrote:Spy drama "The Americans" debuting tonight. This sounds interesting.

And tomorrow is the final episode of "30 Rock". Salma Hayek is popping up in the promos, which is fantastic.

My father is coming for a visit tonight, so it might sit on our DVR for a while, but I'm excited to see it.bob thrill wrote:The Americans was great. I also can't get "Tusk" out of my head now, which is a ok.Vidor wrote:Spy drama "The Americans" debuting tonight. This sounds interesting.

Both "The Following" and "The Americans" should give me something to watch until spring. Liking both so far.

Right now my daughter and I are watching an episode of "Spongebob Squarepants" apparently inspired by "The Fly", in which Spongebob and Squidward are fused together by a transporter accident.
It's pretty creepy.

So I did get a chance to watch "The Americans". The part about the child predator was pointless. Stan being their neighbor is pretty contrived. The rest was awesome. Loved the 80s soundtrack, loved Felicity being evil.

I agree with both of those. The child predator needed to be a little more subtle (the female cashier smiling at him while he made rapey advances to a 13 year old was odd) and they should have fired that bullet later in the season. I get that it was the male lead saving the cat, but he saved another cat later.Vidor wrote:So I did get a chance to watch "The Americans". The part about the child predator was pointless. The FBI neighbor thing I can forgive for 2 reasons - 1) It's sort of assumed on the show that the FBI live everywhere and that they probably have ten other neighbors in the FBI. 2) They need to move the plot along somehow and this probably works best for dramatic effect ("But they aren't Russian spies. Our kids play together.") And anyway, the final scene in the garage was pretty cool.

It seemed like the child predator was only there to show that Phillip is a badass who loves his family, which we already knew.
Some of you guys probably know that this show is loosely inspired by the arrest of ten Russian spies in 2010. Apparently some of them had in fact been living in the USA under deep cover for many years.

Southland returns on Wednesday, which is one of better shows on TV. They only do 10 episodes seasons but that should help me kill some time before baseball seasons starts.
