I'm sure a huge component of this is selection bias and hindsight, but I can scarcely recall ever feeling as confident that a player would come through as I did with Berkman there. Not even Pujols with 2 on against Lidge, though to be fair that was more because Lidge was scary good and loomed large from '04's NLCS.

"Confident" would be too strong a word but I believed that Berkman would come through. Whereas when Freese was batting the first time I was thinking about going outside and putting the new license plate sticker on my car.

The top 3 moments for me were 1) Freese homerun 2) Freese triple 3) Berkman single

The reason I put 3) behind 2) was A) it was more dramatic - needed an extra base hit to tie it vs. a single and B) since 2) had already happened it took a little bit of air out of 3). The reason for A) is a) the win expectancy was lower and b) Berkman is a better hitter. b) is true because of i.) longer career, ii.) higher lifetime ops, and iii.) more playoff experience.

Hard to argue with logic.

Jim - if I did not already know you were in a technical field the way you laid out that logic would have let me know you were.

I still say you guys are goofy for whining that a 50 point game in the NBA Championship shouldn't be recognized.

As for game 6, I go with Freese triple > Berkman rbi > Freese homer. Homer last only because since the Rangers finally didn't score I knew we were going to win.

We didn't all think that! 50 points in Game 7, against the Celtics, to win the title? Definitely has to be on there.

Meanwhile, others have said it before, but I very much like how "Game 6" now has its own meaning in Cardinal lingo. That's all you have to say, and other people will know what you are talking about.

Much like Game 6 has a special meaning to Red Sox fans, but ours is a bit happier.
