How did I miss this thread? I don't visit Rants and Raves very often.
I like human names for animals. Fluffy and Fido don't do it for me.Tamborine Man wrote:Sidney. I like the name Sidney.

Re: Cats
So this coworker is all shaken up over her cat.
She just moved in to a 5th floor apartment. They got stuff moved in, settled, etc, furniture in place and what not. Labored to wedge in the window AC. Worked in the living room to hook up the TV and move around the little couch and table, etc.
Heard a crash, ran into the bedroom, where the roommate had seen it happen. The cat had pushed open the accordion-plastic on one side of the AC. Girl didnt pull him away because it was cute. The cat hopped out onto the AC unit, which apparently wasn't properly pinned in the window, because the cat's weight sent the entire unit and the cat falling down 50 feet in free-fall. The AC unit shattered amazingly and appropriately (I saw the pictures), and apparently witnesses outside saw it all. The cat flew down like a flying squirrel, spreading its legs to slow its fall. He only ended up with a bashed-up face and will lose his two upper canines.
My friend is still all broke up about it, as she should be. But the cat's alive and well, which to me makes the whole incident sound amazingly hilarious.

Re: Cats
I was in the seventh floor recreation room of our apartment complex when some of the residents and I were looking at a white cat in the window of the fourth floor of an apartment next door. Suddenly, the cat fell out of the window. I was so concerned I left and went out to see what had happened. I got to the place below the window and found nothing. No dead cat, no blood, nothing. It must have landed on its feet and walked away.Maclowery wrote:So this coworker is all shaken up over her cat.
