Poirot is the best. It's my go-to for watching on the iPad in bed when I can't sleep. Unfortunately they only have 6 seasons so I have like 2 1/2 eps left before I run out.

What did everyone think of the end of the Dexter season last night?

I though it was lame, and a cop out. A pretty meh ending to a pretty good season.

OK, even though Deb showing up at the shipyards at all should have been avoided, to have her kill La Guerta and immediately break down in tears and run to her? Horribly conceived.
Should be interesting how La Guerta going "missing" will play out next season. Angel now on the scent?

Did you see the directors comments ... that part where she ran to La Guerta was completely ad-lib'ed.

I thought it setup next year pretty well. It's going to be crazy. Deb went from being a good cop to an accomplice to a serial killer to a murderer in one season. Angel has been Dexters best friend and ally, but now he's a civilian and the women he still loves is dead. This will unravel. Dexter's code is gone, he's just a killer now. The love of his life is on the run.

It could go a million different directions.

They went with the worst possible ending that they filmed.

I think the original ending was Dexter killing La Guerta and then Doakes showing up as a new apparition, or he showed up alive and horribly scarred. The title, and scenes with Erik King (Doakes) just don't make any sense in the context of the storytelling. It looks like they just brought him back for a bunch of scenes, just to have a a bunch of scenes. At no point did those flashbacks do anything to advance the story, or give the viewers pertinent knowledge that we didn't already know.

The thing is, you add those scenes in there to create a buildup, to have a reason and later a payoff for newer viewers unfamiliar with the earlier seasons. Instead, they make no sense, and are a waste of time. Also, what is the reason now for the title? It doesn't make any sense.

I think there is an alternate ending that was left out at the last minute, and now the rest of the episode doesn't make any sense.

The thing is, you don't tease viewers for an epic finale, only to give them crap. It would be like if the producers for the next Star Trek movie were like "Kahn is back!" and plaster that all over posters in theaters, then it turns out he is only there in old Spock flashbacks for no payoff - not even a cliffhanger of finding the sleeper ship at the end of the movie.

It's bad storytelling and producing.

Once I got Roku I watched lots of television.

What are some series that I should check out? For instance, I just recently watched the entirety of Friday Night Lights. I am watching Heroes now.

I am sure I have missed lots of good tv all these years. What is on Amazon or Netflix from the last 5 years that I missed?

Not interested in HBO GO or Showtime stuff I won't be able to find, or costs extra.
Some of the ones I like on Netflix
Drama: Lost, especially if you can find some sort of abridgment guide online
Light procedural: Bones
Comedy: British The Office. American The Office. Mitchell and Webb Look.

I haven't watched my DVR of "Dexter" yet, but I've read what happens--and it makes me not want to watch the episode.

In other news, the Paul McCartney-Nirvana supergroup played again on "Saturday Night Live".

Blah- Dexter and Homeland finales were terrible.
Dexter was at least good, up untilt he finale. Homeland sucked all season, or at least every episode after the terrorists stealing the bomb in Gettysburg.
But, Carrie is the worst, Brody, not much better, and their "love story"... Puke.

Just up to episode 6 of Dexter this season. Still good so far, but I was hoping they were getting away from using his father as a character. It's the most annoying thing about the show to me. Even more than Dexter continually getting away with too much.

I rather enjoy Masterchef. But I really want to see the judges take on the contestants in a truly blind-tested competition. Has this ever happened?
