Seriously, quit being a-holes….as much as you want to delegitimize adverse reactions to the vaccine they happen, so hopefully that’s not something you have to experience.AdmiralKird wrote: ↑September 20 21, 3:32 pmIf you can squeeze it in, try and sacrifice the goat to Satan after work instead of before. All medicine is a little drop of poison. It sucks that we're in this situation. I wish there was a lot more (or infinite) time between initial vaccinations and poking my kids with it to let things play out and learn as much as possible about long term effects. I'll talk to their doctors (I trust them, and I even at least mostly trust pharma in this situation), weigh the known risks of Covid against the known risks of vaccination and make a decision when the day comes. It will most likely be get them injected.

Re: Coronavirus
Anyway, worth pointing out that the woman who worked on that study is pro vaccine and has been vaccinated herself. The findings are that boys 12-15 end up with a greater risk of myocarditis after the second shot than their risk of serious illness from Covid. There are some criticisms of the study out there but even so - after reading her Twitter, sounds like she’s good with the one shot approach for them as that doesn’t show the same supposed myocarditis risk and it’s below the risk for serious Covid illness.ghostrunner wrote: ↑September 20 21, 12:15 pmWhat are you referring to? Pfizer says it’s own vaccine is safe for kids!!!
ignore the studies that show it isn’t

Re: Coronavirus
Sorry I didn’t respond, but yes the myocarditis issue (along w/ the other potential adverse reactions as well).
And I’m sorry, but that 1 shot line of thinking is just big pharma trying to cash in again. I know most of you guys are pro vaccine, but when will this madness end. It’s quite obvious the only reason they want to vaccine kids is $$$$, nothing more.
Kids already have the most minuscule chance of dying from COVID, I think in the range of 600 have died since COVID began (risk of dying from the flu is greater). And before you go calling me a heartless bastard, of course it’s terrible, but kids die everyday from preventable things and when you have a pandemic people unfortunately are going to die. But to give them one shot which they’ve already said isn’t “fully vaccinated” seems very meaningless and IMO is an attempt to get them into a circle of having to rely on big pharma for their boosters the rest of their lives. What protection and for how long will one shot even provide/last? If it’s 3 months are going to be lining THEM up for boosters all the time as well.
I will say that children in high risk categories should be looked at differently.
I’m sorry, our world has lost their ever loving minds.

Re: Coronavirus
Here's the thing, the risk covid poses to children is so small, it's going to take massive studies to accurately weigh risks. I don't know how to really judge a study other than double blind randomized peer reviewed = gold standard and then if the p value <0.05 = meaningful. Tough to realy comment on the study you're talking about from my perspective. How good is a retrospective epidemiological assessment? No idea.ghostrunner wrote: ↑September 20 21, 9:27 pmAnyway, worth pointing out that the woman who worked on that study is pro vaccine and has been vaccinated herself. But, when you're dealing with 99.996*% of kids not requiring hospitalization from an infection, the study to show the vaccine is less risky than the control will have to be...quite large or extremely well controlled and designed, I'd think.
*From my understanding, that number was derived from 162 (number in the study per million) being 3.7-6.1x higher than those hospitalized with covid within 120 days. So 162/3.7=44 44 people hospitalized per 1M on the high end. 100-[(44/1M)*100] = 99.996% I don't know if that number is correct, but apparently that's what they're using in this study? It seems low. Looking back at a previous post I made:
The Arkansas doh has started tracking pediatric cases with 3 deaths in 85k cases, 102 icu admissions and 770 hospitalizations. All I know is deaths, but all 3 have occurred after delta arrived and best guess is delta accounts for 20-25k of the 85k pediatric cases.
From that you're looking at a 99.1% of kids not requiring hospitalization or 9100/1M hospitalization rate.
Big difference.
ETA: here's the study. https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101 ... 21262866v1
And here's the part I'm talking about:
Also, I feel like my math is way off somewhere.Rates per million following dose 2 among males were 162.2 (ages 12-15) and 94.0 (ages 16-17); among females, rates were 13.0 and 13.4 per million, respectively. For boys 12-15 without medical comorbidities receiving their second mRNA vaccination dose, the rate of CAE is 3.7 to 6.1 times higher than their 120-day COVID-19 hospitalization risk as of August 21, 2021 (7-day hospitalizations 1.5/100k population) and 2.6-4.3-fold higher at times of high weekly hospitalization risk (7-day hospitalizations 2.1/100k), such as during January 2021.

Re: Coronavirus
I'll let the smarter people on the board figure out a) if this is legit or not and b) what it means if it is. The source is The Telegraph.
Wuhan scientists planned to release coronaviruses into cave bats 18 months before outbreak
Wuhan scientists were planning to release enhanced airborne coronaviruses into Chinese bat populations to inoculate them against diseases that could jump to humans, leaked grant proposals dating from 2018 show.
New documents show that just 18 months before the first Covid-19 cases appeared, researchers had submitted plans to release skin-penetrating nanoparticles containing “novel chimeric spike proteins” of bat coronaviruses into cave bats in Yunnan, China. They also planned to create chimeric viruses, genetically enhanced to infect humans more easily, and requested $14million from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (Darpa) to fund the work.
The documents were released by Drastic, the web-based investigations team set up by scientists from across the world to look into the origins of Covid-19. In a statement, Drastic said: “Given that we find in this proposal a discussion of the planned introduction of human-specific cleavage sites, a review by the wider scientific community of the plausibility of artificial insertion is warranted.” The proposal also included plans to mix high-risk natural coronavirus strains with more infectious but less dangerous varieties.
The bid was submitted by British zoologist Peter Daszak of EcoHealth Alliance, the US-based organisation, which has worked closely with the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) researching bat coronaviruses.
Viscount Ridley, who has co-authored a book on the origin of Covid-19, due for release in November, and who has frequently called for a further investigation into what caused the pandemic in the House of Lords, said: “For more than a year I tried repeatedly to ask questions of Peter Daszak with no response. Now it turns out he had authored this vital piece of information about virus work in Wuhan but refused to share it with the world. I am furious. So should the world be. Peter Daszak and the EcoHealth Alliance (EHA) proposed injecting deadly chimeric bat coronaviruses collected by the Wuhan Institute of Virology into humanised and ‘batified’ mice, and much, much more.”
A Covid-19 researcher from the World Health Organisation (WHO), who wished to remain anonymous, said it was alarming that the grant proposal included plans to enhance the more deadly disease of Middle-East Respiratory Syndrome (Mers). “The scary part is they were making infectious chimeric Mers viruses,” the source said. “These viruses have a fatality rate over 30 per cent, which is at least an order of magnitude more deadly than Sars-CoV-2. If one of their receptor replacements made Mers spread similarly, while maintaining its lethality, this pandemic would be nearly apocalyptic.”

Re: Coronavirus
The Telegraph may have run the story, but the source is DRASTIC.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DRASTIC Idk how reliable that is. The original documents need to be posted and verified.
This story [strikethrough]neatly[/strikethrough] exactly lines up with the lab leak hypothesis complete with Eco Health and WIV working together to do gain of function research resulting in an enhanced/furin-cleaved S protein ideal for infecting humans that leaked from the WIV lab.
I reserve the right to later judge the legitimacy of the information.
If true, it pretty heavily, imo, tips the balance of the origin question towards lab leak and away from a zoonotic origin. But...even then, there are still details missing. Such as, if their grant was denied, where did the money to do the work come from? How was the furin site modified?
