I went out to dinner last night and ordered a bourbon. They brought it in a glass I had never seen before. It was like a wine glass (height and stem wise) with an almost snifter (though less round at the bottom) top. It had a very distinct bulge about half an inch above where the stem meets the glass and then came inward. When you drank out of it, the nose fit perfectly inside much like a snifter.
Anyway, anyone have any idea what kind of glass this was? It was awesome and actually made the bourbon smell really good, but I can't find it anywhere online and have no idea what to search for....
Also, let me ask you all this. What's the deal with not listing prices on menus for some of the drinks? And, do you all ask before ordering? I know we have had this convo, or a tangent of it, somewhere before. But, it kind of drives me nuts. Last night we were at this place and they had prices for all their wines, all their cocktails, seemingly, and then under the bourbon list there were no prices.
The only bourbon names I didn't recognize were the top of the list ones....which made me want to try it. But....[expletive], I didn't know how much they cost. So, I asked the waitress something along the lines of if she knew much about them and what they were comparable too but she didn't so I just ordered the 10 year something or another woodford. So, I get the bill and it was $9. Well, [expletive], I felt like I should have gone up a notch and ordered something more expensive. In short, I wish they'd have had the prices so I could have ran whatever algorithm is in my head and probably ended up with a better (or at least more expensive) bourbon.
How do you all handle situations like that. Is it rude to ask? Are people just supposed to know, mostly, what bourbon costs?
