I want to play devil's advocate for a second. Maybe if Holliday came back he'd be the same as at the end of the '09 season. Maybe Albert will continue to have reduced power, then we're using a good portion of our payroll on two guys to not hit home runs. All of those hypothetical websites and stats are impressive and really cool, but it's not perfect. We won't know what kind of money it will take for Holliday until Bay signs with the Red Sox, which is what I think Bay will do.

Bay is unlikely to sign until Holliday does. The only way he signs first is if someone overwhelms him with stupid money. No matter where Holliday goes he's not going to hit like he did here. But he's still going to rake. You're not paying Albert and Holliday to hit HR anyways. You're paying them to not make outs and to do damage with men on base.

Right, the risk is that you have all your eggs in two baskets, but that's how it goes most of the time anyway. The wrong two guys get hurt (or forget how to play like you're saying) and the year is toast. But that's unlikely.

I know. I mainly meant that they are both really well rounded players. Their value isn't solely tied into HR power like players like Dunn, Howard, Soriano, etc.
