Re: Every Year is the Year of Star Trek
Finished season 1 of Discovery, rewatched the first half. I like it, though I tire a bit of the dialogue wrestling over Federation ideals. Would rather they just show the ideals than have them cited repeatedly. Hoping that tapers off now that’s it’s more or less re-established.
I do wish series like this could go back to 1 or 2 episode stories. Or just mix them in with the bigger arc, similar to X files.
Still don’t like the new Klingons, and the Ash story I’m not sure I fully understood. Felt like they yada yada’d something that deserved more detail.
As I think about it I didn’t really like much of the storyline, but the visuals and characters are all good enough to keep me going. I’m not one to demand an airtight plot, but this show does depend on plot enough that I think that needs some improvement.

Discovery is like the weather in the midwest. Don't like it? Just wait a little while and it will completely change.

Into Season 2 and it's better. I have some thoughts but want to finish it.

The decontamination rub down scenes in Enterprise really are weird as hell. You guys weren't kidding that they don't stop.

Season 2 of Discovery has gotten really good, though the time crystal thing with Pike was really lame and makes no sense at all.
Mod edit for the people that might not know about that little part of the storyline

Oops. Sorry.
Anyway, this is one of weirdest, most interesting match dissolves I’ve ever seen.
Basically, Saru’s face transitions into a Saru’s face looking cliff side. It also looks like Groot.
On a related note, the cinematography and lighting on this show is better than a lot of big budget movies (*cough* Marvel).
