I don't think I have had a Schlitz. It was a dying brand during my formative imbibing years.

IIRC, the rights to Schlitz were acquire by a small investor group from Pabst. I think it's brewed somewhere in Illinois.

It's the 60's formula which apparently makes a big difference, I guess the later years it was really bad. My Dad and Uncle swear it really is the "good beer" as he called it to differentiate from the "crap beer" in the 70's.

It's good too. I love it.
Oh hell yeah to Schlitz. As cheap beers go it is right up there.

The Schlitz 60's formula is no longer cheap. It sells for around $6.50 a 6'er around here. 12 pack of cans used to be $5.99. Now they pulled the cans off the shelves--just the 60's formula in bottles. I'm kinda pissed. I've had to switch back to Stag and Busch.

How is it? I've wanted to hit it up in the new old incarnation.

$10.99 > $5.99 = Schlitz fail.

A sixer of pretty much any craft brew starts at about $9 here in Chicago. Sometimes you can get stuff on sale for $1 less. So Schlitz at $5.99 might be a bargain.

On the Internet ">" means better than as opposed to greater than, right?
